Marstons Mills is really becoming a focal point for activity. In the last few years, a sense of community has really solidified, supported by new businesses in town, and the Residents realizing that we have something very special here. I lived in Marstons Mills from 1976 until 1996, and my Real Estate business office has been here since 1986. 'The Mills' has always had its own unique style-kind of a 'do your own thing' feeling, but always with a helping hand to neighbors when needed. Since many new residents have moved in, they bring a desire to bring the Village together in a proactive way so that Town services, economic prosperity and recognition of the uniqueness of living here is rewarded.
The newly formed Marstons Mills Farmers Market, which takes place on the 1st and 3rd Saturday of each month until May 15 at Liberty Hall on Main Street, is a welcome addition to the vibrancy of the village. Marstons Mills has had an Annual River Day in May, celebrating the Marstons Mills River, and a Village Day in September, both oriented to our strong population of young families. The Farmers Market reaches a new segment of the population, including working people, retired residents and a generation that cares to feed itself in a more sustainable way. We are lucky to have the convenience of a major supermarket in Marstons Mills, but as this Farmers Market grows, it could become a very friendly and much antiipated alternative for those specialty items that cannot be found in a supermarket. Not only that, but the heartbeat of the village is all within walking distance to this market-the Marstons Mills Public Library, the Mills Restaurant, the Plum Porch gift shop, and the long established Marstons Mills Cash Market.
