Clean out and declutter all rooms and storage areas. It is labor intensive, but rewarding to toss out, donate, or recycle possessions that no longer serve their original purposes. Go room by room, possibly 1 week for each area, rather than tackle everything at once. It will make the house show better, and make your move easier and less expensive. If you will need the possessions, consider the benefit of a storage unit or container, so that the house and its basement and garage show well.
